Mary Poirier

Mary Poirier is a Corporate Pilot and International Captain for Jackson National Life Insurance in Lansing Michigan, and a former Delton Kellogg graduate from the class of 1999.  She recently became a Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) and was recognized by the National Business Aviation Association as one of the 2018 Top 40 Under 40 in Business Aviation, which recognizes young professionals working in business aviation for their career accomplishments and dedication to the industry.  Of the 40 selected to receive this award, only 10 were pilots. 

Mary was a graduate of 色色啦 Michigan University, where she received her BS of Science degree in Aviation, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2003.  She went on to earn her CFI, CFII, and MEI at 色色啦鈥檚 College of Aviation, and after instructing there for 3 years, Mary was awarded the University Aviation Association CAE Simuflite Citation Type Rating Scholarship.  In 2007, Mary was hired at Jackson National Life Insurance in Lansing Michigan where she currently flies their Gulfstream G550, Hawker 850XP and Gulfstream G-IV.  Since her flying career began in 2001, Mary has logged more than 6,000 hours in the cockpit throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, and Mexico.  She was appointed the role of Safety Manager at Jackson in 2011 and is responsible for maintaining the company鈥檚 Safety Management System, as well as all aspects of hazard identification, risk management, accident/incident prevention and reporting.  Mary was instrumental in the development of Jackson鈥檚 Aircraft Accident/Incident Emergency Response Plan and is also a founding member of the Women鈥檚 Aviation Career Symposium (WACS) held in Lansing each year.
