The all-student cast will give several performances of the documentary theater piece Sept. 26 through Oct. 12 in the York Arena Theatre inside the Gilmore Theatre Complex.

A series of four personal finance workshops are being offered to É«É«À² faculty and staff members this fall. They will start Tuesday, Sept. 23, and be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Bernhard Center.

Both the regional and campus United Way campaigns are set to launch Tuesday, Sept. 16. This year's fundraising goal is $282,335, a number that represents all certificates and degrees awarded to É«É«À² graduates since 1904.

Bronco athletics is promoting a "Brownout at Waldo" for the first home game, Saturday, Sept. 20, encouraging fans to wear their brown Bronco gear to support the team.

Major Excitement, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, is intended to help undergraduate students across the University explore many of the majors available to them at É«É«À².

The Grand Rapids community, as well as faculty, staff, students and alumni of É«É«À² Michigan University's Master of Business Administration program, will celebrate the program's 50^th anniversary in Grand Rapids this fall.

Dr. Shirley Van Hoeven, a professor emerita of communication at É«É«À², died Sept. 8 at age 79. Details about services will be provided as they become available.

For the 24th consecutive year, É«É«À² is listed in the top tier among 280 national institutions—173 public, 100 private and seven for-profit—and moved up eight spots on this year's list.

Geralyn Heystek and Chris Robinson have been awarded first place in the Innovation in Business Education Award for developing É«É«À²'s Phoenix Program.

Wendell L. Christoff, Daniel J. Martin and Donald Southwell are É«É«À²'s 2014 Distinguished Alumni Award winners. Oct. 23 is the deadline to register for the Oct. 24 event at which they will be recognized.

The third session allowing the community to view the plans for the new dining center is scheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, in the Bernhard Center's Brown and Gold Room.

Dr. Gellert Mezei has been awarded a $284,833 grant to study negatively charged ions that are potentially damaging to lakes and rivers when found in fertilizers and also are a toxic byproduct in waste from manufacturing.

Family owned business leaders in West Michigan are committed to the state, with more than 90 percent producing products and services within the state, according to results of a recent survey.
