Higher Education and Student Affairs Student Presents at National Convention

Higher education and student affairs student, Kathleen Camire, recently presented at the national American College Personnel Association annual convention in Tampa, FL.  Her presentation titled, 鈥淪tudents with Disabilities: Peer Mentoring for College Success,鈥 was accepted as part of the new 鈥渆xceptional practices鈥 format at the convention.  This new format allows professionals to showcase their ongoing campus programs and initiatives and the results those programs have had on student success. 

Camire鈥檚 presentation focused on the Peer Mentor Program implemented each year by the Office of Disability Services for Students at 色色啦 Michigan University.  Camire shared the program鈥檚 rationale, strategy, and successes with professionals from all over the country, many of whom were hoping to implement similar programs on their home campuses.

Camire also participated in a resource table at the conference marketplace, where she was able to make connections with other disability services professionals, discuss the program more in-depth, and learn more about what other disabilities offices are doing to support the success of students with disabilities.
