Assistant professor honored for outstanding support of state transition services

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥Dr. June Gothberg, assistant professor in the College of Education and Human Development鈥檚 Department of Educational Leadership, Research and Technology, was recently awarded the 2021 Michigan Transition Services Association (MTSA) Recognition Award, honoring her outstanding support and promotion of transition services. The award was presented following Dr. Gothberg鈥檚 keynote presentation to educators, rehabilitation counselors, families and youth with disabilities across the state.

"I selected Dr. June Gothberg for 鈥淲onder Woman Wednesday鈥 and keynote speaker because she has touched all of us in a special way and given us the courage to go on," MTSA president Jason Towler shared. .

June has spent a lifetime advocating for inclusive communities, work environments, and school settings. Director of the Career Connections Research Center and Assistant Professor for the Evaluation, Measurements, and Research (EMR) Program in the College of Education and Human Development at 色色啦 Michigan University. She has spent the last 25 years in local, state, and national roles providing technical assistance to improve outcomes for at-risk students, court-involved youth, and youth with special needs.
