Design Studio
The Gilmore Theatre Complex Design Studio, located next to the acting studio, is primarily used for theatre design and technology classes, as well as dance technology classes, and is available 40 hours a week for students to work outside of class times. The room is home to 24 student workstations comprised of a drafting table and a Macintosh dual core G5 computer, running the latest operating system and software. All computers are networked to a central theatre server and multiple printers and plotters. Available software includes VectorWorks, complete with Spotlight and Rendtrworks; Lightwright, Maxon Cinema 4D; Adobe Photoshop; Poser; the Macromedia Suite (Flash, Dreamweaver, and Fireworks); Apple Motion and Soundtrack; Arkaos VJ; Final Cut Pro; GarageBand; Cacophony; Dance Forms and the Microsoft Office Suite.
The design studio uses the following equipment, primarily for courses in design and technical production:
- Each student workstation is comprised of a custom-designed drawing/drafting/computer workstation with a 30 by 42 inch tiltable board with locking parallel, lockable art supply storage drawers, a flat file drawer, halogen lighting and an adjustable task chair.
- One tabloid-size flatbed scanner, 36 inch plotter, three color printers, two black and white laser printers, three digital SLR cameras with zoom lenses and a digital video camcorder.
- Extensive, tackable wall surfaces with adjustable shelving for the display of two- and three-dimensional design projects.
