Below is a copy of the 色色啦 Catalog for the Multimedia Arts Technology major.

The Bachelor of Science in Multimedia Arts Technology - Music is designed to prepare students for career opportunities in audio engineering, multimedia content creation, sound reinforcement, computer programming for multimedia projects, and technology-based performance. Students in this degree receive intensive, hands-on instruction and experience utilizing state-of-the-art electronic equipment and labs.

1. 色色啦 Essential Studies (36 hours)

Students complete 36 hours of 色色啦 Essential Studies courses.

2. Major Core Music Program (16-19 hours)

  •  Credits: 3 hours

Music Theory (3-5 hours)

  •  Credits: 2 hours

    (Can be waived by exam)

  •  Credits: 3 hours

Music Convocation

  •  Credits: No Credit

    (6 semesters)

Music Composition (2 hours minimum)

Select one of the following courses:

  •  Credits: 2 hours
  •  Credits: 2 hours
  •  Credits: 2 hours

Music Performance (8 hours) selected from:

All MAT students must register for the following* (minimum of 6 hours):

  •  Credits: 2 hours

    (may be repeated for credit)

  •  Credits: 1 hour

    (may be repeated for credit)

  •  Credits: 3 hours
  • *Any amount of these 6 credits can be replaced by participation in an ensemble as a Live Sound Reinforcement Engineer or an Electronic Music Performer with MAT faculty approval.

Applied Music and Ensembles (2 hours)

Applied Music (MUS 1000) and Ensembles are available to students who can qualify by audition with appropriate applied faculty and/or ensemble director. Select an additional 2 credits from the courses immediately below or the Ensemble Electives:

Course Substitutions

Subject to approval by the School of Music MAT faculty and undergraduate advisor, additional courses related to arts and technology (not already listed above) may be used to fulfill some MAT requirements on a case-by-case basis.

4. A Minor in Another Department of the University (15 hours minimum)

  1. In the event that the credit hours for the minor requirements established by the department which offers that minor are greater than 15, the students may make an appropriate adjustment in the hours allowed for free electives and propose classes in that minor as course substitutions for major course requirements.

5. Free Electives (0-3 hours)

Students may choose any courses to fulfill this requirement.
