Research, teaching and students in Medieval Studies

  • The Medieval Institute Endowment supports all activities of the Institute, including programs and resources for graduate students, teaching and research.
  • The David R. and Georgian R. Tashjian Endowment supports research on early medieval England and manuscript studies, including the Richard Rawlinson Center’s library, Congress speaker and annual Paul E. Szarmach article prize.
  • The Tashjian Study Fellowship helps a master’s student in medieval studies pursue research or study about early medieval England or manuscript studies.

The International Congress on Medieval Studies

  • The Kathryn M. Karrer Endowment helps graduate students in any field present papers at the Congress.
  • The Otto Gründler Memorial Endowment helps emerging scholars from underrepresented regions, particularly Central and Eastern Europe, present papers at the Congress.
  • The Archibald Cason Edwards, Senior, and Sarah Stanley Gordon Edwards Memorial Travel Grant Fund helps emerging scholars of medieval European art present papers at Congress.
  • The Reception of the Classics in the Middle Ages Lecture Endowment (endowed in the memory of Archibald Cason Edwards, Senior, and Sarah Stanley Gordon Edwards) supports the annual lecture, presented each year by a distinguished scholar on a topic pertaining to the reception of the culture of classical antiquity in medieval Europe.
  • Mostly Medieval Theatre Festival Fund supports performances at the Congress-mostly medieval and mostly theatre-but also diverse premodern artistic works. 

Medieval Institute Publications

  • The Medieval Institute Publications Gift Fund helps support the publication of high-quality research in medieval and early modern studies, including monographs and edited collections, classroom texts, peer-reviewed journals and more.
