É«É«À²'s internship is a full-time program and meets five days a week, Monday through Friday. Interns take part in supervised practice experiences in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, school food and nutrition, food service management, and wellness. Interns work mostly one to one with their preceptor or supervisor. 

The É«É«À² Dietetic Internship provides over 1300 hours of supervised practice.

The É«É«À² dietetic internship includes these rotations and sites in the 2024-25 academic year:

1 week (40 hours): Orientation to Program

1 week (40 hours): Orientation to Sustainable Food Systems

Included time at Kalamazoo Nature Center’s Delano Farm, Kalamazoo Farmers Market, Kalamazoo Valley Community College Food and Innovation Center

15 weeks (600 hours): Clinical Nutrition Rotation consisting of:
Clinical Core—12 weeks
Clinical Staff Relief—3 weeks

Rotations are at one of the following*:

Beacon Health Three Rivers (south of Kalamazoo)
Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, Battle Creek
Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo
Mercy Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Grand Rapids
Corewell Health—Blodgett Memorial Med Center, Grand Rapids
Corewell Health Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph

3 weeks (120 hours): Long-Term Care Rotation at one of the following*:

Care Resources P.A.C.E. (Kalamazoo, Portage, Battle Creek)
Senior Care Partners P.A.C.E. (Grand Rapids)
Mission Point Health (several locations)
Medilodge (several locations)

5 weeks (200 hours): Food Service Management Rotation at one of the following*:

University of Michigan Health West, Grand Rapids

4 weeks (160 hours): School Nutrition and Food Service Rotation at one of the following*:

2 weeks (80 hours): Enrichment Rotation at End of Year (intern’s choice of site)

1 week (40 hours): Wrap-Up Week (didactic time)
