Electronic Music Lab
Music Composition majors complete projects in state-of-the-art computer music workstations designed for creating concert music or music for media, such as movies and video games. Music Composition majors benefit from the technology acquired for the MAT Studio and composition student work at these workstations regularly. For a description of our other facilities, including our recording studio and computer lab, visit our facilities page. Below is an overview of our spaces.
MAT Studio
The MAT Studio consists of four state-of-the-art workstations designed to facilitate the generation of high-quality audio and video content. The stations feature a variety of equipment and software. All students who complete the Music Composition program will work at these stations in three or more classes and have access to these spaces throughout their time in the program, after passing an introductory course. All the stations have Logic, Reaper, Ableton Live Suite, Max, iZotope plugins, FabFilter plugins, Altiverb, Adobe Creative Suite Applications, and Native Instrument Ultimate software and samples. Two of the stations have capacity for 5.1 surround-sound projects. Each station fitted with high-quality sound cards and MIDI controllers. Many projects creating in these labs have been presented at professional and student conferences and festivals.
