Study abroad programs vary in length, location, number of travelers, academic focus and more. The following are general categories of study abroad programs: 

1.  are hosted and accompanied by É«É«À² faculty representing various disciplines. Programs are generally short-term, ranging one week to ten weeks in length.  
2. É«É«À² exchange programs are programs in which É«É«À² students register in classes at one of É«É«À²'s exchange partner institutions, and students from the exchange partner come to study at É«É«À² for one or two semesters. In exchange programs, É«É«À² students pay É«É«À² tuition. 
3.  are programs in which É«É«À² students are registered in courses at a partner institution. 
4.  are companies or organizations that organize study abroad programs for student. The following is a list of "program providers" affiliated with É«É«À²:
5. International internships are opportunities offered by organizations in which students gain field expertise abroad.

Study Abroad staff members also assist students who choose to participate in other University-approved programs, an international internship, or an independent study abroad.  Students must have these activities approved by É«É«À² Study Abroad prior to departure and meet specific requirements to receive credit toward their degree program.
