Bio:
Dr. Kristal Ehrhardt is Senior Associate Dean & Director of Teacher Education in the College of Education and Human Development, and a Professor of Special Education.  She holds a Ph.D. in School Psychology with a specialization in Early Childhood Special Education. Dr. Ehrhardt has ample experience with funded projects, including serving as a principal investigator on two federally-funded personnel preparation projects, Interdisciplinary Preparation for Autism Services, 2017-2022 $1,134,000, Improving Outcomes for Students with High Incidence Disabilities through Accountable and Reflective School Psychology Practice, 2000-2004, $565,195, and on two federally-funded Early Reading First projects, Promising Beginnings, 2008-2013, $4,024,946 and I CAN Read!, 2006-2010, $3,404,137. In July 2024, Ehrhardt and colleagues from CEHD were awarded $425,000 from the Michigan Department of Education for Project IMPACT: Induction & Mentoring Programs for Administrators, Counselors, and Teachers. Project IMPACT will be the state model for mentoring and induction standards and practices. She served as the Project Director for the Ohio Early Childhood Intervention Project at the University of Cincinnati. She has co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and chapters on collaborative consultation, behavioral assessment and intervention in special education and school psychology. 
 
Fun Facts: Dr. Ehrhardt loves to travel. Her favorite trips include a visit to Peru in 1996 during which she and her husband were stranded on Taquile Island in Lake Titicaca for several days, and another to Tanzania in 2018 with her son in which he successfully summited Mt. Kilimanjaro and she almost made it! In 2019, she and her daughter visited Granada, Spain and spent several days at an Airbnb in the Sacromonte Caves.
