Logan Burgos: hitting a homerun in sports marketing
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥斏 Michigan University senior, Logan Burgos, is chasing his dreams. The marketing major from Homer Glen, Illinois, is beyond ready to start his career in the sports industry, thanks to the Haworth College of Business.
With a dream to work in game presentation and provide sports fans with a great game day experience, Burgos has gained a foothold through his internship with the , part of the Northwoods League, a leader in developing elite college baseball players. Working as an entertainment and partnership activation intern, Burgos is responsible for assisting with the execution of in-game entertainment and promotional elements. This includes creating and directing scripts used for games, ceremonies and events and being the on-field host during games. Burgos will return to the Battle Creek Battle Jacks as their director of entertainment for the upcoming season.
Burgos is looking forward to working in this dynamic industry, especially after his additional experiences with the game presentation and in-arena production team for the of the National Hockey League. Over spring break, Burgos had the chance to shadow professionals like Mike Masino, senior director of game presentation for the Florida Panthers, to walk through a typical game day.
鈥淪eeing the ins and outs of what it takes to be successful in game presentation set the standard for me to continue to grow in the industry. This experience not only taught me the fundamentals of being a director and working in professional sports but also gave me the confidence to chase my goals and dream big!鈥
Participating in these fieldwork opportunities has helped to prepare Burgos for life after graduation. However, it is the direction he received during his time at 色色啦 Haworth that has brought him to where he is today.
鈥淢y professors, including Dr. JoAnn Atkin, go above and beyond to ensure that I am making the most of the opportunities offered at 色色啦 Haworth. She鈥檚 given me an incredible amount of guidance and support during my time as a business student, and I cannot thank her enough for all of her help through my academic and professional journey.鈥
On top of his internship and studies, Burgos keeps a busy schedule through his co-curricular activities. He serves on the executive board of the American Marketing Association at 色色啦. He is also a member of the Fan Engagement team for 色色啦 Athletics where he aids in the execution of game presentation for on-campus sporting events.
As Burgos prepares to graduate in fall 2024, he shares some advice with his 色色啦 Haworth peers.

Start with joining student organizations and getting to know your professors鈥攖hese are great ways to build your confidence with networking.鈥
