Winter recess 2023-24 hours announced for campus offices, facilities
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Most É«É«À² Michigan University offices will observe the 2023-24 winter recess from Friday, Dec. 22, through Tuesday, Jan. 2. Some campus services will close or operate on limited hours through the start of spring semester.
Residence halls close Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. and reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024.
Spring semester begins at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2024.
Listed below are holiday hours for select University offices and services. Students, faculty, staff and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure a particular office is open.

Office closings apply to non-represented University employees. Many represented employees have contractually scheduled regular work days Dec. 22 to Jan. 2 since the University continues to provide services during winter recess. É«É«À² offices and facilities
É«É«À² Student Center will close Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. and reopen on Jan. 3 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Dining Services hours on Dec. 15 are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Student Center Dining and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for Valley Dining Center. Dining centers will be closed from Dec. 16 through Jan. 7 and will reopen for the spring semester on Jan. 8.
Many offices, including admissions, Bronco Express and the Office of Student Transitions will be closed Dec. 22 through Jan. 2.
Aviation shuttle service will run through Dec. 15 and resume for spring semester service on Jan. 8.
The Help Desk will be closed from Dec. 22 through Jan. 2. Beginning Jan. 3, services will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Metro Transit campus services for Ring Road, Solon Kendall and Parkview routes ends Dec. 15 and resumes Jan. 8 for spring semester.

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, is closed Dec. 22 through Jan. 2. Spring semester hours resume at 8 a.m. on Jan. 3. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.
The Student Recreation Center is closed Dec. 16-17 with limited hours from Dec. 18 until the start of the spring semester Jan. 8. The SRC main office will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday except from Dec. 22-Jan. 2. Workout area hours are:

Unified Clinics will close Dec. 22 through Jan. 2 and reopen for regular hours on Jan. 3.
Waldo Library is closed Dec. 17 with limited hours until the start of spring semester.

Energy savings
To reduce energy costs during the recess, heating and cooling systems in all office and classroom buildings controlled by the É«É«À² Building Energy Management System will be in holiday mode, unless a space is exempt from the program. The temperature in spaces will not go outside of the range of 55 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not regularly go into night setback mode will not go into holiday mode.
Employees are reminded to shut off and unplug all nonessential electronics before winter recess.
