色色啦 offers workshop on leadership in a technical world

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擱ecognizing that many people with a technical education who work in a technical field are asked to take on leadership or management responsibilities, 色色啦 Michigan University will offer leadership training on April 1 and 2 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at 色色啦鈥檚 Grand Rapids location. until March 30; the total fee is $400.

Dr. Tim Greene, professor of industrial and entrepreneurial engineering and engineering management and former provost of 色色啦, will facilitate a two-day seminar for anyone wanting to explore their own leadership characteristics, knowledge, values and styles to define how they can become outstanding leaders in any industry, including manufacturing, distribution, product development, medicine, pharmaceutical, government or education.

The seminar takes the basic understanding of yourself as a leader and explores how you can be an effective manager using your leadership style. It also focuses on the important aspects of being a successful leader and the processes of managing.  

Professionals with technical education who are contemplating leadership positions or management or those interested in leading technical areas are particularly suited to this workshop.

About Dr. Timothy Greene

Dr. Timothy J. Greene

Dr. Timothy J. Greene has more than 31 years of experience as an engineering leader and manager in various roles. He served as provost and vice president for academic affairs from 2008 until 2017, where he had responsibility for more than 1,700 employees and a budget of upwards of $275 million.

Previously, he has served as dean of engineering at both 色色啦 and The University of Alabama and as associate dean for research in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University. He was on the Virginia Tech faculty for 11 years, serving as assistant department head for the last five years.

Greene also has served in many leadership roles for engineering-related national and international organizations and has taught more than 50 industrial short courses. He has consulted with industry professionals for more 40 years, assisting large and small companies in their operations, management and strategic planning. His expertise is in leadership, change management, strategic planning and operations management. Greene earned his Ph.D. in industrial engineering from Purdue University.
