The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded É«É«À² Michigan University faculty members a grant of $1.92 million to support the development of a culturally and linguistically responsive behavioral health workforce. It is the third HRSA grant É«É«À² has received in recent years to support behavioral health workforce development.

At its June 24 meeting, the É«É«À² Michigan University Board of Trustees authorized the University administration to implement a new one-year agreement between É«É«À² and its 22-member Police Officers Association.

In keeping with the University’s commitment to providing an affordable and high-quality education, the É«É«À² Michigan University Board of Trustees approved a tuition and required fee increase that falls well below the tuition-increase restraint cap proposed by the governor and Michigan Senate. 

The Board of Trustees approved the appointment of administrator and faculty member Dr. Steven Carr as interim vice president for the Office of Research and Innovation. The University will be launching a national search to secure a permanent leader for the Office of Research and Innovation. A search firm will be selected in the coming weeks, and a search committee will be assembled in the fall.

The merit-based scholarship is intended to encourage accounting students to pursue careers in audit.

Tuition for 2021-22 academic year tops the agenda when the É«É«À² Michigan University Board of Trustees meets Thursday, June 24. 

There will be 883 degrees awarded at the bachelor's level, 377 at the master's level and 34 at the doctoral level during summer commencement ceremonies Saturday, June 26.

After losing his vision in a home invasion, Robert Parsons has found hope and purpose in helping others who experience blindness and low vision. He will receive master's degrees in rehabilitation counseling and vision rehabilitation therapy from É«É«À² and has aspirations to set the standard for training rehabilitation counselors.

Jossalyn Rogalski is combining her talent for skin care with her love of science to educate others about living greener lives. She plans to continue her environmental stewardship at É«É«À² by getting involved with clubs and finding service opportunities.

As its new director, Joanne Roehm will bolster the mission of É«É«À²'s Grand Rapids location of helping working adults continue their education in a flexible, part-time format.

A weeklong celebration of Black culture and heritage is planned at É«É«À². It includes keynote speakers, a solidarity walk, spoken word performances and more.

Visionary É«É«À² Michigan University graduates have donated to the É«É«À² Foundation $550 million, the largest gift for a public institution of higher education in U.S. history. Forward thinking in design, scope and size, this historic philanthropic contribution will be known as the Empowering Futures Gift. The donors, alumni who have chosen not to be named, earmarked their record-breaking contribution to É«É«À² and É«É«À² Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed).

É«É«À² Michigan University is taking a walk into uncharted territory with a park straight out of the Mesozoic era. The Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences has big plans in the works for developing the dinosaur park, which is already drawing buzz around the community.
