É«É«À²

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—A virtual Student Sustainability Summit will provide an opportunity for students across É«É«À² Michigan University to share specific concerns on the broad theme of climate change. The summit, planned for Saturday, Feb. 27, from noon to 2 p.m., is supported by the É«É«À² Student Association, the Office for Sustainability and the Climate Change Working Group.

Students from every background, perspective and academic discipline are invited to explore climate change and the intersectionalities of environment, culture, politics, economics, energy, behavior, biodiversity and social issues.

The event will begin with student presentations followed by breakout discussions led by students.

The summit presents students with the opportunity to hear diverse concerns and perspectives and network with others. Student expectations, vision and leadership have motivated É«É«À²'s work on environmental stewardship, innovative climate change and sustainability programs, and commitments—like the University’s commitment to carbon neutrality by 2065. Organizers expect students will help É«É«À² define and prioritize actions to accelerate the University's pursuit of a just transition to carbon neutrality.

The event is open to the public. Faculty, staff and community members interested in learning from student perspectives are welcome to participate.
