Gibbs House hosts weekly volunteer days

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擳he 色色啦 Michigan University community is invited to learn about permaculture, organic gardening and sustainability by volunteering on-site between 1 and 4 p.m. every Friday through Nov. 16 at the Gibbs House permaculture site located near the Parkview Campus.

Volunteer tasks include planting, weeding vegetable beds, harvesting fruits and vegetables, spreading compost and general gardening. Volunteer day cancellations and changes will be posted on the Office for Sustainability website. Letters and signatures are provided for community service hours.

The permaculture research and design initiative at the Gibbs House is an emerging program run by the Office for Sustainability that serves as a living laboratory for students to implement their sustainable design solutions and projects.
