Drum Choir presents nine drum sets on one stage
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—ɫɫÀ² Michigan University's Drum Choir will present its annual concert featuring seven undergraduate and two graduate student drummers at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 29, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
The concert will include arrangements of songs by composers such as Pat Metheny, Joshua Redman, Frank Loesser, Wayne Shorter, Claude Debussy and original compositions by the students. These talented musicians will demonstrate the vast sonic possibilities on the drum set and give the audience a new perspective regarding the limitless nature of the drum set.
Created in 1992 by Artist-in-Residence Billy Hart, the drum choir allows students the opportunity to explore the tradition of the drum set while incorporating contemporary concepts.
