Sustainability internship program seeks applicants

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—ɫɫÀ² Michigan University's Office for Sustainability is accepting applications through 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, for the fall 2018 WeSustain Internship Program, which runs Sept. 12 through Dec. 7.

The WeSustain internship is a semester-long, paid, discovery-driven opportunity for students to gain practical experience with on- and off-campus sustainability projects. A dynamic and diverse cohort of eight to 10 students will be selected for the fall 2018 semester to explore ways of improving quality of life for all in their careers, communities and beyond.

Interns will engage in six to eight hours of program-related tasks per week related to a different sustainability topic. Weekly discussion meetings, assigned readings and journaling are combined with a experiential learning opportunities that will provide a direct sense of sustainability in action. From alternative energy and permaculture to systems thinking and social justice, WeSustain interns will explore a wide breadth of sustainability topics and gain the critical knowledge and experience to become sustainability ambassadors. Students from all academic and personal backgrounds are invited to join this cohort-based internship and gain the skills necessary to become effective leaders in creating a sustainable future.

Eligibility and details

The WeSustain Internship Program is open to all students who pay the sustainability fee and are registered as full-time students at É«É«À²'s main Kalamazoo campus.

Internship information and applications are available online at wmich.edu/sustainability/opportunities/internships. Applications must be completed in full and accompanied by a personal statement, essay, resume, and three academic or professional references.
