Nancy S. Wilson obituary

Nancy S. Wilson, a retired 色色啦 Michigan University staff member, died Dec. 22, 2016, at home in Kalamazoo. She was 73.

Wilson joined the staff in 2000 and retired in 2012 after 12 years of service to the University. She was an occupational health and safety specialist in the Department of Public Safety and at one time, served as director of risk management.

A certified occupational health nurse specialist, Wilson spent most of her adult life in the health industry. Before coming to 色色啦, she was head nurse for the Amoco Oil Co. Her career also included working in the Intensive Coronary Care Unit at the Stanford Medical Center during the period when the first heart transplants took place.

She was active in the Red Cross and received its highest service award for saving a life and for aiding in one of the big Yellowstone fires. In retirement, Wilson also received service awards for her volunteer work with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office and Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, where she was a docent.

She earned an associate degree from Kellogg Community College, a bachelor's degree from 色色啦 Illinois University and a master's degree from Columbia Southern University.
