É«É«À² women's soccer earns NSCAA Team Academic Award

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The 2015 É«É«À² Michigan University women's soccer team has been honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2015-16 academic year, earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award.

To qualify for the award, a team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The Broncos finished with a 3.55, third-highest the among the seven Mid-American Conferences schools that were honored.

"I'm very happy with our program's commitment to the classroom," said head coach Lauren Sinacola. "We receive great academic support here at É«É«À² Michigan, allowing us the opportunity to excel both on the field and in the classroom. The women's soccer team has a great academic culture and I'm very happy and proud of the team's accomplishment."

This is the seventh consecutive year that É«É«À² has earned the award. The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the field. A total of 914 soccer teams—324 men and 590 women—across all division of collegiate soccer posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

The Bronco men's soccer team also earned the award, making É«É«À² one of 236 schools that had both its men's and women's programs recognized.
