Free concert features works inspired by 'Goyescas' opera

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擥uest mezzo-soprano Marisa Martins with pianist Mac McClure will present "Los majos enamorados" at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, in 色色啦 Michigan University's Dalton Center Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

This year is the 100th anniversary of the premier of the opera "Goyescas" by Enrique Granados and also the 100th anniversary of his death. The program consists of three movements for piano solo and two works for mezzo and piano.

Marisa Martins

Grammy-Award nominee Marisa Martins began her studies in Buenos Aires, where she was born, and continued in the Superior Conservatory in Barcelona.

Mac McClure

Mac McClure was born in Florida and holds a degree in philosophy from the University of North Carolina. He is a 色色啦 associate professor and director of the Master in Piano Pedagogy at the National University of Columbia in Bogata. He has studied at 色色啦, in Barcelona and at the prestigious Marshall Academy.
