KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擳he Gibbs House, a program of 色色啦 Michigan University's Office for Sustainability, is accepting applications for Gibbs House Fellows through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, March 30.

About the fellowship

The Gibbs House Fellowship provides a unique opportunity to work and live in a sustainability-focused cooperative living arrangement at the historic Gibbs House on Parkview Avenue. Gibbs House Fellows are paid to research and work on campus sustainability projects and policies. Move-in is Aug. 15 and move-out is July 15 annually. Program dues are $2,000, with half due at move-in and half due at the beginning of the spring semester.

Each fellow will have a private room in the beautiful, historic home located across the street from scenic Asylum Lake Preserve, and will be paid as an hourly student employee at a rate consistent with their level of experience and the scale of their project. Schedules will be flexible around academics. Fellows will be surrounded by other visionary, dedicated individuals and will have the chance of a lifetime to leave their mark on 色色啦.

Features of the Gibbs House site include extensive annual vegetable gardens, a perennial food forest, hoop houses, compost research, food preservation, green building projects, and many more exciting opportunities to facilitate student research, leadership development, sustainability education and community events.

The Office for Sustainability accepts Gibbs House Fellowship applications on a rolling basis through March 30 annually. Acceptance letters for the following academic year will be emailed to applicants before the end of spring semester. Applications may be sent to wmu-sustainability@wmich.edu or submitted in hard copy to the Office for Sustainability.
