Some campus services on reduced hours for spring recess

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擲ome campus services at 色色啦 Michigan University will be on reduced hours during spring semester recess, which begins Monday, March 7, and continues through Friday, March 11. There are no classes during the recess, but most 色色啦 offices are open normal hours. In addition, there are no classes Friday, March 4, for Spirit Day.

Classes resume beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, March 14.

There are several public events on campus during spring recess, including a Real Talk Diversity Series workshop, a performance by the Ailey II dance company, an open house for the Wesley Foundation, the 色色啦 Invitational Jazz Festival closing concert featuring the University Jazz Orchestra and "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Live!" at Miller Auditorium. The Richmond Center for Visual Arts is featuring two exhibits and will maintain regular hours throughout the recess.

Listed below are hours for selected University services. Faculty, staff, students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular service is open. For emergencies only, contact 色色啦 Public Safety at (269) 387-5555.

Hours for campus offices and services

Many offices, including Admissions, Bronco Express, financial aid, First-Year Experience programs and all University academic advising offices will maintain normal hours throughout the recess.

Bernhard Center and Bronco Mall store hours are available online. The building closes at 7 p.m. Friday, March 4; is open 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 5; closed Sunday, March 6; open 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, March 7-11; open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, March 12; and open 7 a.m. to midnight Sunday, March 13.

Sindecuse Health Center and its pharmacy are closed Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6 and March 12-13 and open normal hours Monday through Friday, March 7-11.

Student Recreation Center hours are available online. The center is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, March 4; closed Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6; open reduced hours 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday  through Friday, March 7-11; and open noon to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13. The recreation center resumes normal hours at 6 a.m. Monday, March 14. The center's main office will maintain regular hours, opening at 8 a.m., Monday through Friday, March 7-11.

Unified Clinics will maintain normal hours throughout the recess.

Waldo Library is open reduced hours, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, March 3; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, March 4; closed Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6; open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, March 7-11; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 12; and noon to midnight Sunday, March 13. The Swain Education, Maybee Music and Dance, and Archives libraries will also be open on reduced hours or by appointment. The libraries resume normal hours at 8 a.m. Monday, March 14.

Campus computing

  • Bernhard Center computer lab closes at 5 p.m. Friday, March 4, and resumes its normal 24-hour operation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, March 13.
  • Information Technology Help Desk closes at 5 p.m. Friday, March 4; is closed Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6; open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, March 7-11; and closed Saturday, March 12. The Help Desk resumes normal hours at noon Sunday, March 13.
  • Mobile Help Desk is closed Friday, March 4, through Saturday, March 12. It will resume normal hours Sunday, March 13.
  • University Computer Center lab closes at 5 p.m. Friday, March 4 and remains closed Saturday and Sunday, March 5-6; is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, March 7-11; closed Saturday, March 12; and resumes normal hours at noon Sunday, March 13.

To reduce energy costs during the recess, heating and cooling systems in all classroom buildings controlled by the 色色啦 Building Energy Management System will be in holiday mode. Air handlers will not run during this time unless a space is exempt from the program or the temperature in a particular space goes outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not normally go into night setback mode will not go into holiday mode.
