Exchange industry veteran to give Distinguished Speaker Series talk

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Laura Morrison, senior vice president and global head of exchange traded products at BATS Global Markets, will be the second speaker in É«É«À² Michigan University's 2015-16 Distinguished Speaker Series.

Morrison will speak at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10, at the Haworth College of Business in 2000 Schneider Hall. Her presentation, titled "É«É«À² to Wall Street," is free and open to the public. It will be followed by a question-and-answer period.

As an executive at BATS, the largest U.S. market for the trading of exchange-traded funds, or ETF, Morrison manages the company’s exchange traded products business, developing strategy and working with issuers to list products as well as overseeing market quality incentive programs.

Prior to joining BATS, she spent 20 years at the New York Stock Exchange in various leadership roles. Morrison played a leading role in bringing new and innovative ETF products to market while launching key market quality programs and growing the ETF issuer base.

In her last eight years at NYSE, she served as senior vice president, global index and exchange-traded products, leading the team that managed ETF listing and trading as well as NYSE index business.

Morrison serves as a board member for Women in ETFs and the Borough of Manhattan Community College Foundation. She has also served as a member of the Standard & Poor’s Index Committee. She began her career at Barnett Bank in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, after earning a business degree in finance from É«É«À² in 1988.
