色色啦 choirs present A Choral Christmas

Some 200 students and community members will take part in the annual concert.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擜 Choral Christmas, the popular annual event featuring several 色色啦 Michigan University choirs, is set for 4 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, the First Presbyterian Church, 321 W. South St. in Kalamazoo.

Tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for seniors and $5 for students, and are available from Miller Auditorium or by calling (269) 387-2300 or (800) 228-9858. Doors open twenty-five minutes prior to each performance. First Presbyterian Church is wheelchair accessible.

A Choral Christmas

A Choral Christmas is a decades long tradition at 色色啦. The concert will include performances by the University Chorale, Collegiate Singers, and Holiday Grand Chorus, conducted by Kimberly Dunn Adams; Cantus Femina, conducted by Dee Gauthier; Collegium Musicum, conducted by Ahmed Anzald煤a; and Gold Company, directed by Greg Jasperse. Members of the Campus Choir, directed by Kristina Riewaldt and Joel Snyder, will join the Holiday Grand Chorus for the closing numbers. University Organist Karl Schrock will also lead audience-sung carols.

The concert will celebrate the beauty of the winter season with familiar congregational carols and Gregorian chants. Additional musical selections range traditional carols, sacred motets, jazz standards and contemporary compositions. Featured composers include J.S. Bach and Sergei Rachmaninoff, among many others.
