Business college dean's Just Business blog debuts
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—ɫɫÀ² Michigan University's Haworth College of Business has launched the inaugural edition of Just Business, a new blog that will feature regular posts on business issues of the day.
The voice behind the blog is Dr. Kay Palan, dean of the Haworth College of Business. The blog's concept is that business expertise provides a powerful way to solve tough challenges in both businesses and communities.
"One of my favorite roles as dean is seeing how business impacts individuals, communities and society as a whole," says Palan. "I come into contact with an amazing array of talent and expertise through faculty research, area businesses, alumni business leaders and student projects. Sharing the topics, linkages and relationships that I have had the opportunity to experience and that hold something relevant for a wider audience was very appealing, and this blog is a platform to do that."
About the blog
Just Business will include a mix of topics that speak to different aspects of the business landscape. The first post takes on the topic of happiness at work and explores the research that local entrepreneur Daniel Jefferies, co-founder of NewMind Group, is doing in this area to chart people's happiness while at work and outside of work and why happiness at work is important for both the employee and the employer.
Other topics will focus on global business, entrepreneurship, business culture, process improvement and expert pieces on stories and developments important in the business news cycle.
"At the college, we truly see business as universal, connecting to all fields and all people," says Palan. "My blog posts will attempt to capture that perspective and delve into the latest thinking in many different areas of the business world. What we are hoping to provide to the business community is something fresh yet applicable. We all often need a moment to reflect and re-focus our efforts, and Just Business is here to help individuals do just that."
