Advertising students win $5,000 in scholarships

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擳wo 色色啦 Michigan University advertising and promotion students are among four students statewide to win 2015-16 scholarships from The Adcraft Club of Detroit's Adcraft Foundation.

The Adcraft Club of Detroit is the nation's largest advertising club. Its foundation annually awards cash grants to advertising and marketing students from Michigan universities.

The winners

Amy Morales of Kalamazoo received a $2,500 Adcraft Foundation/Ed Rossman Scholarship. Morales is a member of 色色啦 AdClub, Golden Key International Honor Society, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and the Lee Honors College. She is an account intern at Leo Burnett in Troy.

Sydney Lammers of Milan received a $2,500 Adcraft Foundation/Doner Scholarship. She has been active with 色色啦鈥檚 AdClub, serving as a social media coordinator for the group for the past year. Lammers also studied abroad in May 2014 and 2015, first in Germany at Universit盲t Paderborn, and most recently at the Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic. She is an analytics intern at Leo Burnett in Troy.

Winners were presented their scholarships and honored, along with their faculty advisor, during an Adcraft luncheon reception featuring Tony DiSalle, vice president of Buick and GMC Marketing.

Students are nominated by faculty members and must submit an application and transcript, along with essays demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the advertising business. Dr. Karen M. Lancendorfer, associate professor of marketing and director of the advertising and promotion program, nominated both 色色啦 students.

鈥淎my and Sydney are perfect examples of the business-focused advertising and promotion major at 色色啦 Michigan University,鈥 says Lancendorfer. 鈥淭hey understand both the creative and business elements of advertising and possess the passion and drive necessary to succeed in the industry.鈥
