色色啦 education departments to host teacher appreciation event

The event, which will feature speakers and free workshops, will take place in Sangren Hall.

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擳eachers of students in pre-kindergarten to 12th grade are invited to exchange ideas with educators at 色色啦 Michigan University and attend free workshops on current topics during an event on campus Tuesday, May 5.

The College of Education and Human Development鈥檚 departments of Teaching, Learning and Educational Studies and Special Education and Literacy Studies are hosting "Teacher Appreciation Celebration: Learning Together" from 5 to 8 p.m. in 1920 Sangren Hall.

The event will feature a welcome from the college's dean, Dr. Ming Li, and comments from Michigan lawmakers Sen. Margaret O'Brien and Rep. Jon Hoadley before opening comments up to various community members. Following comments, a light dinner will be served, and teachers will have an opportunity to mingle and ask questions.

Free workshops offered

During the final two hours of the event, free workshops will be held on these topics:

  • Technology and Education.
  • Community Resources for Educators.
  • Trauma-Informed Educational Practices.
  • Real Talk About Current Educational Policy Changes.
  • There also will be a drawing offering free .5 State Continuing Clock Education Hours for area K-12 teachers.

Sangren Hall's main parking lot, Lot 41, will be available for free parking.
