KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Six time Grammy Award winning jazz trumpeter and composer Randy Brecker will join the É«É«À² Jazz Quartet, É«É«À² Jazz Orchestra, É«É«À² Jazz Lab Band and special guest, pianist Edward Simonill, in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, in É«É«À² Michigan University’s Dalton Center Recital Hall.

Randy Brecker

Brecker has helped shape the sound of jazz, R&B and rock for more than four decades. His trumpet and flugelhorn performances have been featured on hundreds of albums by a wide range of artists from James Taylor, Bruce Springsteen and Parliament/Funkadelic to Frank Sinatra, Steely Dan and Frank Zappa. Randy was a member of the band Blood, Sweat and Tears and later joined the Horace Silver Quintet, followed by Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers.

Jazz Masters Series

In its fifth season, the É«É«À² Jazz Masters Series promotes world-class artists in performance and classes for É«É«À² students and the greater Kalamazoo public.
