Minimal campus apartment rate increases approved for fall 2015
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—Acting at its Dec. 18 meeting, the É«É«À² Michigan University Board of Trustees approved rate increases for on-campus apartments and apartment-style residential units that will result in monthly rent changes of up to $18 per month, with some units seeing no increase.
The new rates for all on-campus apartments, effective for fall 2015, reflect a weighted average increase of below 2 percent—1.95 percent. The rates keep É«É«À² housing options competitive with the surrounding community. New monthly apartment charges will range from $444 to $952, depending on the complex, room style and unit chosen.
Monthly per-bedroom rates at the É«É«À² View complex will range from $730 per month for a one-bedroom unit, to $444 per person for a four-bedroom/four-bath unit. The entire É«É«À² View complex, including the 2013 Phase II expansion, continues to be full and in high demand. Students interested in living at the É«É«À² View next fall are encouraged to begin the application process early at wmich.edu/housing/westernview .
Rates at Goldsworth Valley and Elmwood Apartments will increase by 1.95 percent per unit. The new fall rates will range from $649 for a one-bedroom unfurnished apartment to $952 per month for a two-bedroom furnished unit. These complexes operate at near-full occupancy and are sought after for features such as convenience and safety.
Rental rates for all campus apartments include parking, water and sewer service, cable, trash removal, recycling services and security features. Goldsworth Valley and Elmwood rates include all utilities. All students living in É«É«À² ’s residential neighborhoods enjoy the added benefits of campus living with convenient access to classes, special events and academic services.
