KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥斏 Michigan University theatre students will take a trip into the 60s with several performances of the Tony Award-winning musical "Hair" Nov. 14-23 in the Shaw Theatre at the Gilmore Theatre Complex.

Featuring chart-topping hits, including 鈥淟et the Sunshine In鈥 and 鈥淎ge of Aquarius,鈥 "Hair" tells the story of bohemian life in New York City and the fight against the Vietnam War in a time when the celebration of youth and the struggle for peace and love took the nation by storm.

Under the direction of Jay Berkow and Stage Manager Amanda Finney this all-student cast includes Todd Tuchek, Nick Angel, Brittanie Trevarrow, Chuckie Benson, Joe Cavaiani, Elijah Curry, Sara Geist, Elise Harrigan, Aleksandr Krapivkin, Kasady Kwiatkowska, Deontez Lockett, Emily McKay, Jordan Mosley, Mike Perlongo, Brooke Papritz, Lindsay Powers, Blake Price, Payton Reilly, Joey Simon, Kianee Truvillion and Kendall VanAmburg.

University Theatre welcomes Michael Gruber as the guest choreographer for this production, who was also the theatre鈥檚 Late Night Broadway guest artist three years ago. Gruber studied theatre at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and made his Broadway debut in the final company of "A Chorus Line" (1989-90).

"Hair" will also feature sound design by Broadway鈥檚 Josh Reid (色色啦 Theatre alum) and Abe Jacob, whose career has spanned four decades. Jacob began his career in rock-and-roll at McCune Sound in San Francisco and went on to create concert sound for such legendary artists as Jimi Hendrix, The Mamas and the Papas, and Peter, Paul and Mary. His major Broadway, touring and world-wide production credits include "Hair" (1970), "Jesus Christ Superstar" (1971), "Pippin" (1972), "The Rocky Horror Show" (1975), "A Chorus Line" (1975), "Chicago" (1975), and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" (1976).

Tickets are $20, $18 for senior citizens and 色色啦 employees, $5 for 色色啦 students and $10 for all other students. Acting Against Poverty

The faculty, staff and students of the Department of Theatre at 色色啦 Michigan University are supporting 色色啦鈥檚 Invisible Need Project food pantry this year with its annual "Acting Against Poverty" food drive, which will run in conjunction with the department鈥檚 production of "Hair." Bring canned food items and other non-perishables to the Gilmore Theatre Complex.
