Traditional Chinese fall festival celebrates food, culture
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擜 China Festival to commemorate the traditional Chinese Moon Festival will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at 色色啦 Michigan University in the Student Recreation Center.
Admission and parking are free, and for a nominal fee, attendees may sample traditional foods prepared by local restaurants. This is the first such festival at 色色啦, but organizers plan to make it an annual event.

- The Chinese Association of Greater Kalamazoo's ping pong tournament finals.
- Dance and music performances.
- A Taiji demonstration.
- Informational display booths.
- Hands-on activities.
- Free mini sessions to learn the basic skills of ping pong or Taiji.
The festival was organized by 色色啦's Haenicke Institute for Global Education in collaboration with the Chinese Association of Greater Kalamazoo, Modern Chinese School of Kalamazoo and the Kalamazoo Chinese School.
The University's campus co-sponsors include the Confucius Institute at 色色啦, Timothy Light Center for Chinese Studies, Department of World Languages and Literatures, Association of Chinese Students and Scholars, and Taiwanese Student Association.
