Community invited to participate in day of giving
KALAMAZOO—ɫɫÀ² Michigan University is partnering with Giving Tuesday, a nationwide campaign to engage Americans in giving on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Begun in 2012, the campaign adds a day of giving to the calendar the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. This year, the Office of Development and Alumni Relations is participating through a related giving initiative called #Broncos4Broncos.
That initiative, which utilizes the University's nickname, encourages É«É«À² employees, students and friends of the University as well as their families to donate to student scholarships at É«É«À².
É«É«À² President John M. Dunn will be matching donations to #Broncos4Broncos, up to $10,000, as a personal gift in support of the scholarships.
All those making donations should do so online at . However, that website's donation link will only be live from 12:01 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, says Puanani S. Hammer, coordinator of #Broncos4Broncos and a student assistant in the development and alumni office.
Hammer adds that students who want to learn more about É«É«À²'s giving day initiative can stop by a tent that will be set up on campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 3 by the flagpoles near Sangren Hall. Disc jockey ILLMixx will be on hand, and snacks will be provided.
"É«É«À² students volunteer their time to countless local causes," she says. "But they can also make a difference in the lives of fellow Broncos by donating in any amount to help fund scholarships."

About Giving Tuesday
Instead of a time to give thanks or get a good deal on consumer goods, Giving Tuesday is a time for giving back. The day brings together global charities, families, businesses, community centers, students and other groups.
New York's 92nd Street Y, the catalyst for the project, gives it a home as well as provides community-management expertise. The United Nations Foundation is a partner in the effort.
Questions about the Giving Tuesday event at É«É«À² should be directed to Puanani Hammer at puanani.s.hammer@wmich.edu or (269) 387-8838.
