LGBT student services cosponsors bowling fundraiser
KALAMAZOO鈥擜 family-friendly Bowling Extravaganza is being staged from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Eastland Lanes, 5570 Gull Road, to raise funds for Kalamazoo's sixth annual lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender pride celebration.
The event, which is being sponsored by 色色啦 Michigan University's Office of LBGT Student Services and the Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center, will feature as much bowling as participants can fit in as well as music, raffle prizes and fun for all ages. The cost for those who preregister by Wednesday, May 29, is $12 and $6 for children age 12 and under. At-the-door registration is $15 and $9 for children 12 and under.
Preregistration includes entry into a drawing for a team prize package. Individuals may preregister without a team and be matched with other bowlers.

Kalamazoo Pride celebration
The Kalamazoo Pride celebration is held at the Arcadia Creek Festival Place in downtown Kalamazoo to highlight and honor the area's diversity. This year's event is being presented by Bell's Brewery and will span two days.
First up will be a white party at 5 p.m. Friday, June 14, for which attendees are encouraged to wear all white. The main celebration will start at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, with dancing and singing to an entertainment lineup headlined by Chicago-based Kimi Hayes. In addition, there will be more than 75 vendors and food trucks on site, and plenty of cold beverage options.

色色啦's Office of LBGT Student Services promotes a campus climate that affirms and supports the academic and personal development of students, as well as their partners and allies, who face discrimination due to their sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center
The Kalamazoo Gay Lesbian Resource Center, 629 Pioneer St., is a nonprofit, charitable organization that has been serving southwest Michigan's LGBT and allied community since 1987. The center started as an information and support phone line and began sponsoring a youth group five years later. Overall, it seeks to inform and entertain the LGBT community and its allies as well as to educate the persuadable public of the realities of what it means to be LGBT in southwest Michigan.
