Merling Trio

A truly international group, the Merling Trio brings together musicians from Polish, Japanese and Dutch backgrounds. The trio made its New York debut in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in 1993, and was named a finalist for the Naumburg Foundation Chamber Music Award in 1994. The London Musical Opinion declared that the Merling Trio "made a powerful impression, with unabashed romanticism and finesse."

The March 13 program will include the world premiere of "Surviving a Storm" by Peter Scott Lewis. The work was commissioned by the School of Music as part of its 100th anniversary celebration. The program will also include "Hungarian Dance Number 15 in B-Flat Major" and "Hungarian Dance Number 17 in F Minor" by Johannes Brahms, as well as Brahms' "Piano Quartet in G Minor," Opus 25, for which the trio will be joined by guest violist Jun-Ching Lin.
