School of Music hosts biennial music education symposium

KALAMAZOO—ɫɫÀ² Michigan University's School of Music will host the 2013 Pioneer Music Educator and Visiting Scholar Symposium Monday through Wednesday, March 11-13. Several March 12 events, located in the Dalton Center and Richmond Center for Visual Arts, are free and open to the public.

The biennial event honors a Michigan music educator as well as a visiting scholar. The focus of this year’s symposium is assessment in education with an emphasis on music and music education. É«É«À² alumnus and Jenison Public Schools Choir Director Les Rowsey is the 2013 Pioneer Music Educator, and Timothy Brophy, director of institutional assessment and professor of music education from the University of Florida, is this year’s visiting scholar.
