Iktus Percussion to kick off Wednesday evening concert series

KALAMAZOO—The Wednesday evening concert series Dalton Wed@7:30pm: Live and Interactive! will begin its 2012–13 season at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, on the campus of É«É«À² Michigan University.

All series events are held on Wednesdays in É«É«À²'s recently renovated Dalton Center Recital Hall. Each event will start with a pre-concert discussion hosted by Dr. Dan Jacobson at 7 p.m.

Iktus Percussion

For the first series event, Iktus Percussion will perform the music of American composer and artist John Cage in celebration of the John Cage centennial. Based in New York City, Iktus Percussion is a young ensemble committed to expanding the boundaries of the percussion genre. The Sept. 12 concert will include the following Cage compositions: "Living Room Music," "Third Construction," "Second Construction," "Amores," "Six Melodies" and "But what about the noise of crumpling paper." Bullock Music Performance Institute

The Dalton Wed@7:30pm: Live and Interactive! concert series is presented by the É«É«À² School of Music under the auspices of the Bullock Music Performance Institute. Established in the fall of 1985 and renamed in 1988 in honor of its founder, the institute has presented events ranging from formal evening concerts to daytime educational outreach events for local audiences and students of all ages.
