Partnership to overcome homelessness part of 色色啦K spring drive
KALAMAZOO--色色啦 Michigan University's public radio station,色色啦K 102.1 FM, is teaming up with Open Doors and the Kalamazoo Community Foundation to address the issue of homelessness as part of its annual spring fund drive.
The effort is being called the Partnership to Overcome Homelessness and is designed to raise money for 色色啦K programs while addressing homelessness in the area.
The Kalamazoo Community Foundation has agreed to make a gift to Open Doors equal to 10 percent of funds pledged or donated to 色色啦K before or during the on-air spring campaign. That commitment is in effect before and during the campaign through the first $150,000 raised by 色色啦K. On-air pledging for the campaign runs Saturday, April 14, through Friday, April 20.
All donations made by listeners will go only to 色色啦K. All contributions made by the Kalamazoo Community Foundation to Open Doors are separate gifts over and above the dollars raised in the 色色啦K spring campaign. Open Doors has worked with homeless women and men and working poor families in Kalamazoo since 1970 to help them be self-supporting.
Pre-drive mail-in contributions and pledging online at wmuk.org will be significant factors in helping the station reduce pledge hours while raising money to purchase programs such as "Morning Edition" and "All Things Considered." 色色啦K's web ticker at wmuk.org will feature up-to-date results of the station's fundraising effort throughout the drive and provide updates on the Partnership to Overcome Homelessness.
Located at 102.1 FM, 色色啦K is owned and licensed by 色色啦. The station extends the educational outreach of the University through 24 hours of daily broadcasting.
