Top music students compete for soloist positions
KALAMAZOO--色色啦 Michigan University's top music students will take center stage in the final round of this year's Concerto Competition at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. The public is invited to attend the performance free of charge.
色色啦 School of Music students were competitively selected for the final round from five performance areas--string, woodwind, vocal, keyboard, and brass and percussion. Finalists will vie for the opportunity to perform as soloists with the University Symphony Orchestra later this spring.
Judges for the 2012 Concerto Competition Finals are: Roger Chase, violist and faculty member at Roosevelt University's Chicago College of Performing Arts; Henry Duitman, director of orchestra at Grand Valley State University; and Robert Whaley, tubist and professor emeritus of music at 色色啦.
