General summary
Directs all marketing, promotion, and communication strategies for a significantly large or complex department, college or division.
Major duties
- Develops broad marketing communication plans and strategies. Oversees Web design, Web content and social media.
- Develops plans and oversees execution of medium to large complex events.
- Writes and develops communication content such as promotional material, ads, feature stories, Web content, social media and press releases. Refines messages and objectives and adapts writing style to audience.
- Assesses effectiveness of communications by defining metrics and methodology for measuring results.
- Contributes to the development of institutional communication, branding/identity and marketing standards. Oversees development of department, college or division brands within institutional guidelines.
- Responsible for overall marketing communication budget, including events and advertising.
- Functions as technical expert in marketing communication trends, design and use of technology and social media.
- Manages and provides guidance to staff and student employees, designers, writers, photographers and other vendors.
- Functions resource for staff. Responds to internal and external inquiries.
Minimum qualifications

Required education
- Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Required experience
- Three years' relevant experience.
Physical requirements
Office or other indoor work with minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting/moving materials less than 25 pounds.
Working conditions
Work is generally performed in a well lit, temperature-controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to the outdoors and/or any number of elements.
