Application deadlines
Students may be admitted for Fall or Spring semester. Application must be received by February 1 to be considered for a graduate assistantship.
Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A resume or curriculum vitae (CV) is required; please submit within the online application system.
Graduate test
This program does not require a graduate test.
Note: International applicants may have to provide evidence of English language proficiency. More information can be found within the online application.
Recommendations
This program requires 3 letters of recommendation. Please send email requests for such recommendations from within the online system.
Written statement
Please prepare, and attach within the online application system, a statement of 500 to 1500 words detailing your professional goals and your academic and/or career experience to this point.
Previous written work
Applicants to the graduate program in music composition must submit within the online application 3-4 Scores (PDF format) that best exemplify their past composition experience and interests.
Applicants may also submit recordings, if available, which should be in MP3 format for audio works and MP4 format for audiovisual works (recordings of MIDI instruments are acceptable). These portfolio materials must be submitted separately from your online application.

Transcript requirement
An official transcript from the institution from which you received your bachelor degree is required, as well as a transcript from the institution(s) where any additional graduate level courses or degrees have been taken/completed. Applicants are not required to submit an official transcript of courses taken/completed at É«É«À².
Additional information
If applying for a graduate assistantship, you must submit a separate Music GA application form is due by February 15. See wmich.edu/music/academics/grad/assistantships. It is also recommended that you contact the appropriate faculty for an interview.
