Scott Slawinski has joined the Graduate College as a Faculty Fellow.  Dr. Slawinski earned his doctorate in English at the University of South Carolina in 2002 with specializations in American literature and History of the Book.  He joined É«É«À²'s English department in 2005 and teaches courses in American and British literature.  His research has focused on gender and literature; his first book, Validating Bachelorhood (2005) investigates images of masculinity—bachelorhood, in particular—in Charles Brockden Brown’s Monthly Magazine and American Review (1798-1800), and he has since produced editions of novels by early American writers Sukey Vickery, Sally Wood, and John Neal.  He is currently at work on a book about Sally Wood.  

Dr. Slawinski's task at the Graduate College this year is to enhance opportunities for graduate student professional development.
