Environmental Geology Major
The Environmental Geology major is designed to prepare students for careers in applied environmental sciences. Some graduates will work for environmental consulting firms. Others will work in business sectors such as corporate environmental stewardship companies. Environmental geology is a flexible but rigorous major that provides a broad background in basic and applied sciences as well as depth in environmental and geological sciences through required core courses. Ultimately the depth at the junior and senior levels depends on a student鈥檚 interests in four areas from which electives are chosen. These include enhancing basic geology skills; applied geology skills; climate change; and hydrology. The major includes a capstone field experience, again drawn from a wide array of options to meet the student鈥檚 individual interests.
