June 18, 2020
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擜ddie Weaver, a dietetics major entering her sophomore year in the College of Education and Human Development at 色色啦 Michigan University, has been awarded a $500 scholarship by the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek chapter of the American Culinary Federation (ACF). The ACF is the premier professional chefs鈥 organization in North America. Every year the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek chapter awards scholarships to area students who are currently enrolled or have been accepted into an accredited, post-secondary college with a food-related major or minor (e.g. culinary arts, restaurant management, dietetics).
Weaver reports the scholarship will help pay for tuition. 鈥淚 am so grateful to receive this award from the ACF,鈥 she shares. 鈥淚t is exciting to bridge the gap between nutrition and culinary arts and to see those things exist together.鈥 Weaver plans to attend graduate school upon graduation and become a Registered Dietitian. She loves working with people and being able to teach them new things. Her favorite part of the dietetics program so far has been the Student Dietetics Association. The club allows members to volunteer together and to meet other people in the program. 鈥淎s a first year student last year, this was a great way to learn more about 色色啦 and about 色色啦鈥檚 dietetic program,鈥 says Weaver.
