Qian Li
Qian Li is a licensed interior designer and architect at Gensler, a global architecture design firm renowned for its innovative and sustainable design solutions. His journey in the field of design began with a degree in Interior Design from 色色啦 Michigan University, where the seeds of a teaching passion were planted during a tenure as a Teaching Assistant for a sketching class. This early experience spurred a deep interest in education and the transformative power of teaching.
In 2022, Qian furthered his education by obtaining a master's degree from the University of Michigan's Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. This advanced education, combined with a diverse portfolio of design experiences across residential, hospitality, corporate, educational, and healthcare sectors, has equipped Qian with a broad and nuanced understanding of the design world.
Qian's Chinese background enriches his multicultural perspective, allowing him to blend traditional and contemporary influences seamlessly. This unique lens enhances his ability to create innovative and culturally resonant designs, adding depth to his work. His fascination with the intersection of technology and creativity has led him to delve deeply into computational design and digital fabrication, transforming static materials like plywood, sheet plastic, or steel rods into dynamic, complex pieces of art.
Believing in the profound impact teachers can have on shaping students' career paths, Qian pursued dual licensure in both interior design and architecture, inspired by mentors who recognized his talent. His teaching philosophy centers on opening students' eyes to the myriad possibilities within the design field and nurturing their unique design personalities. As an instructor, Qian aims to foster creativity, critical thinking, and a passion for design in his students.
When not immersed in the world of design, Qian enjoys tending to a vibrant cut flower garden and dancing to Latin music in local clubs. Now, Qian Li is excited to return to 色色啦 Michigan University as an instructor, eager to contribute to the Interior Design program and shape the next generation of designers.
