Regional Quality Assurance Manager at Bethany Christian Services
As a Regional Quality Assurance Manager, I oversee compliance operations for six Unaccompanied Children - Transitional Foster Care Programs within Michigan and Indiana. Our Unaccompanied Children Programs are committed to providing quality care for vulnerable children during their temporary stay in foster homes while in transitional foster care. To assure that quality exists, I am primarily responsible for gathering policy updates to synthesize information and condense for ease of use amongst program staff, while also maintaining an organized system for gathering and storing policy updates. I also generate various reports, complete internal audits, correspondences, notices, and other documents in accordance with deadlines. My role entails working with macro social systems for the tracking and advancement of micro programming.
What activities, resources, or people helped you prepare for your career?
Definitely the classes I took during my graduate program: monitoring and evaluation, program management, and research methods. The knowledge I gained while taking these courses have helped me tremendously with my current role as a Regional Quality Assurance Manager.
Which of your skills had the biggest impact on your success?
Data analysis, critical thinking, and teamwork.
What experiences impacted the choice of your career path?
My passion for international development pushed me to pursue my degree in international development management. My degree definitely opened doors to put in practice the theories I learned in class.
What advice do you have for others pursuing a career similar to yours?
Higher education is often thought of as an individual-level investment; however, your education and experiences can positively impact many lives around you; thus investment is essential.
