Bronco Spotlight: Michael Manga
Rotational Financial Analyst at Stryker
I currently work as a financial analyst as a member of the finance and accounting rotation program at Stryker. This is a three year, three position program across several geographies. My current role is as a sales FP&A analyst with Stryker Spine in Allendale, NJ. Some of my main responsibilities include forecasting, modeling, and month end accounting.
What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is working for a company whose goal is to make healthcare better and improve the lives of people. The most challenging part of my job is given the nature of a rotational program you only have one year to learn your current role responsibilities and make an impact. This is not only challenging but also very rewarding when you think of how much of an impact your work can make in a short time.
Which of your skills had the biggest impact on your success?
One of the most important skills that has helped me transitioning from student to professional is the ability to build relationships and network. These relationships have allowed me to learn new skills, improve my business acumen, and learn about career opportunities.
What advice do you have for students looking for their career after college?
My advice for someone looking for their career after college is to take ownership of your career. Some key things to do to take ownership of your career include: be committed to your academics; get involved on campus showing that you're a team player; leverage the career center for resume workshops/practice interviews; actively seek out opportunities to learn and grow personally and professionally.
