If you had a campus job or internship, how did they impact your career development?
Getting an internship is very important for because it gives you the flavor of the real work life. You will experience a lot of challenges, tasks, and rewards which will give you the opportunity to think whether you want to be in this industry or if you need to re-think your options.
What advice would you offer students to help them decide on a career path?
I would recommend engaging in extra curricular activities and take part in as many events as possible. Those opportunities give you a lot of exposure and experience in interacting with people from different fields. You will learn a lot from everyone on how things are, the way they work, their attitude and mentality, their networking styles, their engagement methods, etc. These experiences can become transferable skills in the future. And always stay in touch with your instructors, let them know what鈥檚 happening and what challenges you鈥檙e facing. They may not always have the answer to your questions but they do know how to guide you through each situation because they interact with a lot of students who have come from different backgrounds so they always will have the right solution for your queries. Lastly, get in touch with the career centre and their resources at least a semester before your graduation. They will guide you with your resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles and many other things which will surely help you to get the best job offer in your hand. Stay aware about the career events and how to prepare for them. Learn about the companies which are coming and how they screen the candidates and prepare yourself accordingly.
